Week #4

Hello all-

We have been going full bore in the classroom. We've been working very hard on Phonics, Math, and Reading stories. Today was International Dot Day and we celebrated by creating Dot art. We read the book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds which is a very good book and listened to the "The Bouncing Dot". I'll post the link here.

Thanks!

Introduction

Hi!

My name is Laura Kapaun and this is my second year teaching at Pingree-Buchanan. I graduated from Valley City State University with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Library Science and endorsements in ELL and Kindergarten and a Title 1 credential. In my spare time, I like to watch my brother play football at the University of Jamestown, watch TV, read, and spend time with my family. Please make sure to take a look at the blog to see what we've been doing in our classroom and look at the schedule when setting up appointments for your child. Please avoid taking your child out during Math and Reading. Any questions, please be sure to let me know! I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child.

We won't be having school on March 6th. Have a great long weekend!

Any questions, please let me know.

Valentine's Day Party

Our class is having a Valentine's pary and card exhange on Friday, February 13th. I will provide the snacks. :)

Please create your box at home and bring it to school the day of the party. There are 15 students in the class and 1 teacher.

If I bring Valentine's cards to pass out, I must bring enough for everyone in the class.

Parents, to save on time, please have your child write his/her nae near "from" and leave "to" blank. This will make it so much easier to pass the cards out.

We are looking forward to a fun-filled day!

If you have any questions, please let me know.

100 DAYS OF SCHOOL!

Dear Family:

The 100th day of School is quickly approaching and so it's time for us to start planning the festivities. This year, we are planning a special, family project.

                                                      THE 100TH DAY CAPE!

Enclosed in this bag, you will find a cape that your child will wear on the 100th day of school. But, something is missing! Each of these capes needs 100 of something on it. Maybe you can stick: 100 stickers on it, 100 googly eyes, 100 punched designs, 100 paperclips, or 100 letters...the limitations are only up to your creativity and what the cape is capable of holding for the duration of the day! (Feel free to make a cape the same size out of another material you have if you want to.)

Our 100th day of school will be on Monday, February 2nd!

Please make sure your child's cape project is completed by then. If you are unable to complete this project with your child, please let me know as soon as possible. We don't want any child to not have a special cape for this day and we will need time to make other arrangements!

Make this project a fun, family project!

I will send home the cape next Tuesday, the 20th. Please let me know by then, if you won't be able to complete the project.

Thanks!
